RxFIT Values

In continuation with yesterday’s article titled, “Why Does RxFIT Exist?” today I wanted to talk about how we make decisions at RxFIT.

Creative

A father left 17 camels as an asset for his three sons.

When the father passed away, his sons opened up the will. The Will of the father stated that the eldest son should get half of 17 camels while the middle son should be given one-third. The youngest son should be given one-ninth of the 17 camels.

As it is not possible to divide 17 into half or 17 by 3 or 17 by 9, three sons started to fight with each other.

So, the three sons decided to go to a wise man.

The wise man listened patiently about the Will. The wise man, after giving this thought, brought one camel of his own and added the same to 17. That increased the total to 18 camels.

Now, he started reading the deceased father’s will.

Half of 18 = 9. So he gave the eldest son 9 camels.

1/3rd of 18 = 6. So he gave the middle son 6 camels.

1/9th of 18 = 2. So he gave the youngest son 2 camels.

Now add this up: 9 plus 6 plus 2 is 17 and this leaves one camel, which the wise man took back.

At RxFIT, we recognize that solutions to problems are never only black and white. We creatively problem-solve by looking for and creating the 18th camel.

Athlete-Experience

“Find customers for your [services] or find [services] for your customers.” -Seth Godin

While we certainly market toward a niche group of people – people that believe in achieving goals, not simply pursuing them – we purposely allow our services to be mutable. Our mission is to deliver results through 1-on-1 prescribed fitness. That is only possible if we continuously find services that will better meet the needs of our customers.

For example, when COVID shut us down at the beginning of April, we could have posted a daily workout on Instagram for you to do at home. That’s what the other micrograms like Orangetheory, F45, and CrossFit did around us.

But you don’t come to RxFIT for a workout – you can find an unlimited number of free workouts online. You come to RxFIT for the coaching. So we pivoted our services to an online coaching platform.

We messaged you every morning checking in on your sleep. Then we delivered a tailor-made workout for you based on the equipment you had available. Then we followed-up with you in the evening on the workout and your nutrition. We even asked questions about your mindset (did you make excuses for eating the Oreos or put off your workout because you slept in) and connection with others. Every conversation was 1-on-1. The coaching was tailor-made.

Trainers check-in with the community by posting general advice that everyone can do. Coaches check-in with you 1-on-1 by messaging custom advice for you to do.

At RxFIT we are coaches, not trainers. Our services are adapted to meet your needs, not the other way around.

Professional

When you put on an RxFIT shirt, I want you to feel proud.

And we maintain a high-level of mutual respect as we act professionally as a business.

For example, Mark and I have continued to regularly be on the phone with local authorities during this pandemic. They never once asked us to shut down.

But after much debate with our staff, Mark and I made the decision that it was ethically the right thing to do after Governor Herbert instituted the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” policy.

That decision was hard. It drastically affected us as a business. But it was the right thing to do given the circumstances then.

Acting professionally is doing the “right thing regardless.” Even though the local government said we could remain open with limited group numbers during the statewide shutdown, the right thing was to temporarily close the doors.

Vision, Mission, and Values Wrap-Up

Imagine a world where individuals reach their goals because know exactly what to do and how to do it. This vision of the future is what gets us out of bed early every morning.

The manner in which we seek to create this future is by delivering results through 1-on-1 prescribed fitness. This mission determines our services and coaching development.

And we evaluate all opportunities and solve all problems through the following three value lenses:

Creative: “Where is the 18th camel?”

Athlete Experience: “Trainers train. Coaches coach.”

Professional: “Do the right thing, regardless.”
